Beginning of a little fall excursion courtesy of Steve/Leah, Joanne/Paul, east gate of Algonquin

Getting ready to board the Wenonah II for a cruise in Lake Muskoka, largest of the Muskoka Lakes

Two of the intrepid cruisers

My kind of cruise by the way, fresh water, 1.5 hrs, relatively cheap, $58.75 pp with discount. Our boat the one on the right

Beautiful day. Great way to see fall colours a little later on this fall

Nice shacks. 1220 Parker's Point Road

Moose on the loose

The Narrows, big boat, narrow channel. Horn blast before entering as she can't turn around. Channel 80 feet wide/14 feet deep, boat 29 feet wide/6 feet draft

The big bay south of the lake's largest island in the far background distance, Browning Island

The Taboo. You can sometimes find a room available for the night if you wish to splurge

Small island, big cottage. Couldn't get a permit to build this nowadays

Jim Balsillie's place, of Blackberry fame. Guess he built this when the company was worth something

Butter tart stop at Bella's

Our accommodations for two nights. Don't get overserved and want to go for a dip or a kayak or you may regret that first step

Taxes in $308/couple/for two nights. Not bad for Lake Muskoka. Canoes, kayaks, free

Our shack, well equipped

Don't do the stupid trampoline tube thingy. Hard on the back, although the new hip survived

The Chalet's waterfront, nicely sheltered. Sparky and I did bring fishing rods in the vette (C7, don't think that they would have fit in the C8) but just didn't work up the energy for a fish.

Typical Lake Muskoka up and down the stairs to/from the water

Did I say that all Corvettes are red? Good comparison look at the last front engine vs mid engine. There is something to be said for both

Sparky's just pointing out that the Chalets were a subject of the HGTV show, Bryan's All In

Bala at the Moon River Dam

Bala Stone Church, circa 1926 built by Skat Petersen

Bala falls

Trinity St Alban's Anglican circa 1920, Bala

In front (or behind) the famous Bala Kee concert hall (Dunn's Pavilion, circa 1929). Blue Rodeo up next this thanksgiving 11 Oct 2000L, tickets selling fast

This is now a Kee bar annex used during concerts for an adult beverage. You can almost picture the old globe gas pumps that might have been there back in the day

Watch out for the sled traffic

The first of this fall's cranberry harvest being sorted at the Muskoka Farms and Winery just north of Bala. The fall cranberry festival is upcoming during Thanksgiving

And we end off with a late lunch at a local watering hole, sausage, sauerkraut, cabbage rolls, perogies and beer

Satisfied Wilno Tavern customers. If you want a little two day cruise for the fall colours, this might just be it. Rockin' Rhanda Teschner is playing here this mid November, 16th, last Saturday of the deer hunt. The End
